How to fix phone number if missing a zero at the front of the number on club import file

These instructions are to help Clubs who have club import files which excel are dropping the zero at the front of their club import file.

  1. Open excel and the file which is missing the zeros from the phone numbers
  2. Highlight the column with the phone numbers
  3. Right click the column and choose the option 'Format Cells'.
  4. Go to the 'Custom' option from the left.
  5. In the 'Type' text box type in 10 zeros in this format 0000 000 000.
  6. Save the file in Text (Tab delimited) format
  7. Open a new excel file
  8. Go to the Data tab and select 'From Text/CSV'
  9. Select the Text (Tab delimited) file you saved in the previous step. A separate window will appear, click load to load the data into the blank sheet.
  10. Copy all the text including the headers.
  11. Open a new excel spreadsheet.
  12. Right hand click in cell A1
  13. Select 'Values' from Paste Options. This will paste the athlete registration data into the file with the phone numbers correctly formatted.
  14. Highlight the birthdates column
  15. Right click the column and choose the option 'Format Cells'.
  16. Go to the ‘Date’ option from the left.
  17. Select the third format option (DD/MM/YYYY) and click OK. This will correctly format the birth dates.
  18. Save file as a CSV (Comma Delimitered) (*.csv) file
