Background
- FIG (Federation International Gymnastics) recently announced that the FIG 1 coaching course is a mandatory prerequisite to enrol in the FIG 2 coaching course.
- The timing of this announcement impacted the manner in which Gymnastics Australia delivers FIG 2 courses as previously, our Advanced Accreditation was deemed a sufficient prerequisite to FIG 2.
What does this mean for MAG/WAG/TRP/TUM FIG 2 courses planned for January 2024?
- In consultation with FIG, Gymnastics Australia has negotiated an agreement that those wishing to enrol into the FIG 2 course in January will only have to complete the FIG 1 Online Theory component.

What does this mean for other future FIG 2 courses?
- Completion of the FIG 1 coaching course will be required prior to enrolling into future FIG 2 courses.
- This decision by FIG will also be considered when Gymnastics Australia conducts our Intermediate and Advanced Level Coach Structure "Phase 2" review.
What does all this mean to me and my current accreditation status?

No.

I hold an Advanced Silver accreditation - am I allowed to enrol into a FIG 3 course?
Depends.
If you achieved an Advanced Silver Accreditation having successfully achieved a FIG 2 certification - YES, you hold what is required to enrol into a FIG 3.
If you achieved an Advanced Silver Accreditation via any other means (RPL, transition from previous GA coaching structure) - NO, you will have to complete a FIG 1 & FIG 2 course.
I hold a FIG 2 accreditation - am I allowed to enrol into a FIG 3 course?
Yes.
I hold a High-Performance accreditation - am I able to pursue a FIG 3 Brevet?
Depends.
If you achieved a High-Performance Accreditation having successfully achieved a FIG 3 certification - YES, you are able to pursue a FIG 3 Brevet.
If you achieved a High-Performance Accreditation via any other means (RPL, transition from previous GA coaching structure) - NO, you will have to complete a FIG 1, FIG 2 & FIG 3 course.
I am seeking to achieve my MAG/WAG/TRP/TUM FIG 2 accreditation - that is the benefit of enrolling into the January course as opposed to future courses?
As mentioned, we have been approved by FIG that approved participants will only have to complete the FIG 1 Online Theory component.
For future courses, you will be required to complete the full FIG 1 course.
What about for those of us seeking to achieve AER/RG/ACR FIG 2 accreditation?
You will be required to complete the FIG 1 course prior to enrolling into a FIG 2 course.
Gymnastics Australia will monitor demand and look to run these course in the near future.
