Ready to start coaching gymnastics? Here's where you start! Follow this step-by-step guide below to gain your Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching Accreditation.

Create a Gymnastics Australia account
If you are a new user, you will need to create a Gymnastics Australia account. To do this, please fill out the New User Sign Up form. Please ensure you register with your legal name (including middle name(s)), as this form will be used to verify your Working with Children Check (or equivalent).

Login to Gymnastics Australia and access Flex

  1. Go to the Gymnastics Australia website by visiting https://www.gymnastics.org.au/
  2. In the top right-hand corner, click Sign In
  3. Sign in using your Technical Member ID as your username, and your Gymnastics Australia password.
    1. If you have forgotten your username or password, please click on the relevant link beneath stating "I don't know my username or password"
  4. Once you have signed in, you will land on your profile page. Click Go to Flex (LMS). This should be on the left-hand side of the page. 

 

Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching structure
The Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching course has three bundles required to complete (in order) to achieve an accreditation

  • Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching – Welcome to Gymnastics (No charge, Minimum age 14)
  • Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching - Online Course and Workbook ($250, Minimum age 14)
    • Module 1 - Fundamental Gymnastics (Online Course)
    • Module 2 - On the Job Training (Workbook Submission - required to be signed by an approved Club Coach Educator)
  • Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching - Final mentor check-in (No charge, Minimum age 15)
    • A virtual mentor/assessment session that runs for approximately 1hr and 30mins.


Enrol in Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching - Welcome to Gymnastics 
The first step to gaining a Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching Accreditation involves completing Module 1. 
1. Access the Training Library by clicking the Bookshelf icon on the left-hand menu bar.


2. Locate the Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching (Entry Level) category and click View Courses.


3. Locate the Welcome to Gymnastics Coaching - Introduction course and click Enrol


4. You can access online courses you have just enrolled into through the My Training section of Flex. 
5. Click View under the Welcome to Gymnastics Coaching - Introduction, and you will be able to see the two modules. 


6. The Welcome to Gymnastics Coaching module is a simple interactive course that includes a welcome video and directions on how to access the Community Coach - Essential Skills course via the Australian Sports Commission Learning Centre

7. The Sports Australia: Community Coach - Essential Skills module is where you are required to upload the certificate of completion once you have completed the Community Coach - Essential Skills course via the Australian Sports Commission Learning Centre. This certificate will be emailed to you once you have completed it. 

 

Enrol in Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching - Online Course and Workbook

NB: You must complete Welcome to Gymnastics Coaching - Introduction before enrolling into this course. 

1. Access the Training Library by clicking the Bookshelf icon on the left-hand menu bar.

2. Locate the Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching (Entry Level) category and click View Courses.


3. Locate the Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching Course and click Purchase. You will then be prompted to enter your payment details. Click Process Payment to complete your enrolment. You will be emailed a copy of your receipt.

4. You can access online courses you have just enrolled into through the My Training section of Flex. 
5. Click View under the Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching Course, and you will be able to see the two modules.


6. Click Start or Resume for the part of the course you wish to work through. 

 

7. The Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching Online Course module is an engaging and interactive online course that builds on the learning from the Community Coaching Essential Skills course focusing on the gymnastics aspects Who You Coach, What You Coach, Where You Coach and How You Coach

8. The Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching Workbook module is where you are required to download the FGC workbook and work through it with a certified Club Coach Educator. The workbook is then to be uploaded having been signed and approved by your Club Coach Educator. 

9. Please note, to access the workbook, click Start, click Take Assessment, and then click Click here to download the workbook

Enrol in Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching - Final mentor check-in
NB: You must complete Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching - Online Course and Workbook module before enrolling into this course. 

The Final Mentor Check In session is hosted by one of our wonderful national mentor panelist and will discuss with you all that you have learnt in the course to date. They will be looking to see that you have understood the content and are there to support you if you have any further questions on fundamental coaching.

1. Access the Training Library by clicking the Bookshelf icon on the left-hand menu bar.

2. Locate the Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching (Entry Level) category and click View Courses.


3. Locate the Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching - Final mentor check-in course and click Enrol, then click Start.

4. You now need to book into a training session/event. To do this, head over to the to the Training Event calendar. You can access this by clicking the Calendar icon on the left-hand menu bar.


5. In the Course search bar, type "Fundamental".  Then select "Fundamental Gymnastics Coaching - Final Mentor check-in" from the drop down selection.
 

 

6. You will then see a list of scheduled sessions for that month. Click the arrow > to see the courses in following months

7. Once you find the session you wish to attend, click Enrol. If a pop up appears, select Enrol again. You are now enrolled in this session. 

8. To check which events you are enrolled into, click the My Enrolled Events toggle.



Completing the Fundamental Coaching Course 
1. After attending and passing the final check-in course, you will be awarded the accreditation. This can take up to two weeks post course date.
2. If you are unsuccessful in passing the assessments during the practical course, you will receive instructions on what to do next.
